The onions are harvested and now the upper level of the barn is filled with the pattern of purple-red and white - nice even rows of sweet goodness!  From the field to the plate, there are no tastier onions out there.  As each bulb forms a tough dry skin, we will cut off the dried tops and bag them in airy mesh bags to store.  Many of the area restaurants are putting in orders for weekly delivery of these, but we will continue to have lots of them to offer you too so be sure to check onions on your downtown delivery online order or to pick up a bunch at the next Urban Farmstand at our house!  Wednesdays from 4:30-7pm and Saturdays from 8am-noon - 4500 Reedy Avenue.

How about a few onions on the grill?  Or chopped in your summer salad?  Or topping your tacos?  Or on your pizza?  Such a versatile vegetable and essential to so many dishes - no wonder it's the Farmer's wife's favorite veggie!
