Fresh, Local,
Unconventional Vegetables

Right here in Richmond!

Victory Farms, Inc. is a family-run farm in Hanover, Virginia. Owner/Operator Charlie Collins has been farming for a living since 1994.  With a degree in Botany, he has spent years developing methods for growing fine-quality produce on a small urban farm. The acre of land is compost-fed and pesticides are never used. Artisanally grown produce is hand-harvested and tended to daily by Charlie himself and arrives at the markets freshly picked and ready to enjoy.

From 1994 to 2006, Victory Farms, Inc. was recognized for selling to Phoenix, Arizona's finest restaurants.  Gina Collins, Vice President and co-owner, accepted a position with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in December 2006 so the farm moved east.  Now that we've relocated to Hanover, Virginia, we have re-created our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) membership program for the Richmond metro area.  The CSA movement in this country began in Massachusetts in the early 1980s when farmer Robyn Van Eyn forged a partnership with the community surrounding her Indian Line Farm to grow their winter storage vegetables. CSA’s serve a vital function in a community that is trying to hold onto its farming traditions in urban areas.

With pre-payment for a season's share, this type of program provides the farmer with consistent support and the buyer with the freshest, locally-grown produce possible. This is not a buying club where brokers gather produce from other states – our vegetables are grown on our family farm right here in Hanover, with only occasional enrichment from select local growers. If you are interested in joining our CSA, please visit our CSA Page.

Market sites for 2008 include:

Tuesdays at the Byrd House Community Market in Oregon Hill from 3:30-7pm;

Thursdays at the 17th Street Farmer's Market in Shockoe Bottom from 9am-1pm; and
